TITLE | FILTERING THE REAL
HAIRY MICROPHONE, BLURRED VOICE
I grew up in a world immersed in music, surrounded by musicians, thanks to my father, who is a musician himself.
This condenser microphone is a very personal object for me; it’s with it that I truly began to express myself, following in my father’s footsteps. It means a great deal to me because it represents the luck I had to be born into such an exceptional environment, surrounded by talented musicians. It allowed me to form a strong, natural, almost instinctive connection with music.
This microphone is extremely sensitive: it picks up the slightest sounds and noises. It is precisely this sensitivity that inspired me to reinterpret it. I transformed it into a microphone that alters the voice, like a sound filter. To achieve this, I used materials such as aluminum foil, which reflects sound, and hair, which absorbs it, arranged all around the microphone.
Thus, on an object that was originally highly technical and serious, I added a lighter, more playful role. This deliberate contrast between precision technology and unconventional materials creates a harmonic tension, while emphasizing the personal aspect of my approach.
